PSAT-2 via AO-92

Today while working the AO-92 pass at around 14:40 UTC, I heard SSTV on the downlink. It turned out to be PSAT-2 repeated by AO-92! The PSAT-2 downlink and AO-92 uplink frequencies are the same, and the two satellites were very close to each other, within a few hundred kilometers. Here is a link to the decoded image: https://twitter.com/ure_n8/status/1345383890949726208/photo/1 The same thing happened the following pass, although the SSTV signal was weaker and there were a number of QSOs going on at the same time. This should happen periodically. Does anyone know of prediction software that can find times for satellite conjunctions like this? -Stephen N8URE

I always enjoy the ARISS SSTV events. Sometimes I am able to participate, other times I'm not. Life is what it is. However, this time I was and have many images. And many dups I assume. But, I was able to get another ham who had never experienced sat comms or SSTV before to participate. With a dual band vertical & IC-706 he was able to experience the ARISS SSTV downloads. Future ARISS SSTV Suggestion

12 images of PD120 (2 min transmit time, with 2 min "rest" time) ends up having a 2x period of 96 minutes. The period of the ISS is 93 minutes. This means that we frequently end of seeing duplicates of images on successive passes. I would suggest adding or subtracting an appropriate amount of images to "break up" the pattern. A general AMSAT Membership Concern

Today I received an automatic renewal notice and an invoice for renewal of AMSAT membership. That prompted me to ponder three things: 1. There is no question that AMSAT membership provides me individually with benefits, as well as the general Amateur Radio community, but …. 2. Is the seemingly never-ending squabbling and political posturing that preceded the recent BOD election finally (!!!)_ over? That was both disturbing and distracting from enjoyment of this aspect of the hobby. 3. When will the printed AMSAT publication resume? I value receiving a paper magazine even though an electronic version is quicker and cheaper to distribute. Even though active back to my High School days of OSCAR 1, I have not entered into membership until a few years ago and am debating renewal pending answers to these three questions. 73 Carl WA0CQG
