Just got the switch on of mode v/s at about
01:55 UTC and heard myself with a good
downlink signal so everything still works OK
I note that this is the twelfth freq/mode combination
I have entered into the PacSat32 doppler SQF file
A very versitile bird.
Didnt even monitor Voice birds.
Waited for ANDE and worked evryone that was on it. All 3 of them. Worked it from my D700 mobile with a small beam stuck out the window. Simple set up. Only change from normal APRS was changing the path to VIA ARISS. Done.
Also heard PCSAT and got several packets through it too, but I did not have a beam at the time and so I was not able to decode any packets.
Lottsa birds. Take your best shot.
I am putting together the 2006 AMSAT Annual Report and am in need of a great
picture for the "Kids Day" portion and AMSAT Mentoring of High School or
University Students. If you have any great shots, please forward to
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

I was probably running 50W. But since my D700 was hearing the 2W TX on ANDE OK, then ANDE should hear your 5W OK too.
But I would only expect success above say 30 deg when ANDE is at least 6 dB closer to you than on the Horizon.
> I am guessing I am going to have to run 5 watts min?
That would be my guess. Let us know if you are successful. Remember, you ahve to wake ANDE up. Send packets one after another until you hear it wake up and respond.
maybe that is why AO-51 will be on LS mode the week after FD....to cure the "Hangover"....

Here is a copy of my direct comments to Paul
about my problems with AO-51.
about a year and a half ago I tried this bird for the first
time. It was 2 western U.S. passes. Every call was a 6 call
and there was no way in heck I was going to get any air time.
And that was the last time I tried AO-51. In fact it reminded me
of the 11 meter band. Or the 80 meter breakfast club.
