AX.25 FD satellites

ANDE and PCSAT will be available for 2 way packet contacts on FD. See the web page: http://www.ew.usna.edu/~bruninga/ande-raft-ops.html Both operate as digipeaters on 145.825 MHz up and down at 1200 baud AX.25. ANDE digipeats packets VIA ARISS just like the ISS. PCSAT will be using its own default callsign of W3ADO-1. W3ADO-1 is basically semi-operational, and probably will not work... but may work for very short packets when in the sun. ANDE-1 should work well, but you should use a small beam to be sure to receive the packets. Good luck! WB4APR, Bob

GO-32 What Happens

For curiosity's sake ... Does anyone find out what happens to this bird to knock it "off-line" --- alpha particle corrupts memory, dead-man timer goes off because of software loop, lost interrupt, batteries run down ... What is done to bring it back on-line .. just curious ... (comes with the hobby ..) 73, Bruce.

ISS and Shuttle over Europe

Hi, this evening over Europe I have seen a great pass. ISS and Shuttle during the 20:25 UTC transit over Italy were one close to the other...very close. I hope the weather will permit tomorrow to see again this beautiful pass before the Shuttle return back home. Claudio IK1SLD

Audio compression sometimes helps on the L band uplink

Hi all, Sometimes it helps to use audio compression on the 1268.700 MHz FM uplink to AO-51. BUT - first be sure to receive properly :-) Remember the L/U downlink this week is on 435.150 MHz and that it is Left Hand Circular. YO (Romania) satellite partner needed

Hi G0SFJ hopes to operate as LZ/G0SFJ/P again, this time from the Rhodopi mountains south of Kardjali, Bulgaria, between 12 and 14 August this year. I'll be at the astrocamp there. Equipment will be my FT-51R (QRP) and trusty Arrow on AO51 and SO50. BUT as I am then taking the train to Bucharest, Romania, I need to have a partner/supporter in Bucharest to help me operate as YO/G0SFJ/P in a public park in Bucharest on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 August. Without a partner in YO I will not feel secure in operating there and I might not take my equipment at all. I would be very grateful if any OM in Romania YO could email me at the address above, to make arrangements. Greg, After rechecking the exact LO frequency of my TX converter and adjusting the DOPPLER.SQF file, I found I was pretty much on frequency last night. I am still doing some empirical testing, by slowly turning down the power, and tweaking the TX frequency in 1 KHz increments while talking. That has greatly reduced the dropout times compared with some other stations. Right now, it looks as if being slightly higher than the nominal uplink, 2-3 KHz, works better for me. Of course, that depends on how well everything in your station is calibrated. Initially, try jumps of 5 KHz, up and down. If you are nearly centered, it won't make much difference. However, if you are significantly off frequency but still in the passband, one of those jumps will take you out entirely, and the other will make a great improvement. That is what I found. Once you find the right direction to go, try another 5 KHz. If it deteriorates, go back, and fiddle with smaller steps. Also, as VE3NPC commented, the downlink may be slightly higher. I receive 435.300 with the discriminator centered, but I find this downlink looks better at 435.1515. No question you have to hit the bird a bit harder for a full quieting signal. WISP DDE Client and Satpc32 no DOWN oR UPLINK FERQ

i am running wisp dde client and satpc32 i cannot get wisp dde client to get any up or downlink ferq the sat name,mode,az,elevation works fine but no up or downlink ferq it worked once then cannot get it working again even if i put nothing in the auto settings it seem to still read the sat name,mode,az,elevation is it not write the settings right,i tried removing wisp dde client and reinstalling it but it seems to do the same thing and all the settings are still ther as if i never removed it thanx all howard
