A 1-U CubeSat, CAPE-3 includes a "digipeater and experimental UHF adaptive radio." An AX-25 telemetry downlink has been coordinated on 145.825 MHz and a 1k2 frequency-shift keying (FSK) downlink has been coordinated on 435.325 MHz, "which may burst to 100 kHz bandwidth," according to the IARU Amateur Satellite Coordination page. CAPE-3 is the third cube satellite in the CAPE series. The primary educational mission is to allow grade-school classrooms to access the Smartphone CubeSat Classroom, and run interactive experiments through an experimental smartphone ground-station grid. The secondary mission is to perform scientific experiments involving radiation detection and take pictures of Earth. The solar-powered spacecraft, created by UL Lafayette's CAPE Satellite Team, was launched with nine other CubeSats as part of NASA's Educational Launch of Nanosatellites (ELaNa) program. A Virgin Orbit LauncherOne rocket attached beneath a wing of a customized Boeing 747 was dropped high above the Pacific Ocean. It climbed about 225 miles above Earth and then ejected the satellite. Ok, It seems that it looks like no one has got this to work, even though the manual says it should. I was warned by Jeff,KB2M that it was going to be a challenge, but I had everything on hand to give it a try. It will work with dedicated hardware TNC, but not with a software based TNC even though the connections are the same. Unless a 9600 baud TNC comes my way cheaply, I will just keep collecting telemetry. I do not want to jinx the Sat by spending a lot of money on a TNC (Hi Hi ). FalconSat-3 9600bps in with IC-9100...........

Hi Guys, I am trying to get my IC-9100 to transmit 9600bps audio to FalcanSat-3. I am receiving ok through the Data2 socket but, I cannot seem to get the 9600pbs audio in through it. I am using a Rigblaster NO-MIC to key the radio which works perfectly and getting a .220 Vp-p signal on the audio in line on TX. If anyone can help out to see what I am missing here if anything. Or let me know what you are using with the IC-9100 if you have it working. Thanks, 73 Carm,WO3T

ARISS anticipates that the contact would be held between January 1, 2022 and June 30, 2022. Crew scheduling and ISS orbits will determine the exact contact dates. To maximize these radio contact opportunities, ARISS is looking for organizations that will draw large numbers of participants and integrate the contact into a well-developed education plan. The deadline to submit a proposal is March 31st, 2021. Proposal information and more details such as expectations, proposal guidelines and the proposal form can be found at www.ariss.org. An ARISS Introductory Webinar session will be held on February 25th, 2021 at 8 PM ET. Just listened to an East Coast USA pass on 437.325. Strong signal but no decode using standard AFSK AX25 1200 Bd via SoundModem. It did not sound like normal 1200 Baud APRS. SatNOGS has multiple transmitters,speeds and modulation types listed for this frequency so not sure what mode is being used. Anyone have info ? Thanks Frank - WA2NDV

Hello AMSAT-ers The CAPE Team has not heard it sat of 145.825 yet we are talking it on 437.325 MHz The CAPE III sat beacons out ~ 90 sec on 1200 FSK the 20 sec later on 1200 bps AFSK and then 9k6 bps fsk We think we have a bad connector on the VHF side if you think you have heard CAPE III please email an call me 337 258 2527. The tlt are listed below and probably a few min behind RasFX2 Tnx nick k5qxj CAPE 3 1 47309U 21002A 21028.58087949 .00001877 00000-0 97672-4 0 9999 2 47309 60.6851 94.6672 0017495 296.6373 63.2922 15.20284710 1619 RadFxSat-2 (AO-109) does not have a 2 meter transmitter. That was likely CAPE-3, which was on the same launch, which does have a 2 meter transmitter on the space APRS frequency of 145.825 MHz. I thought I saw a report a couple of weeks that they were having trouble with the 2 meter transmitter, which may explain the weak and brief signal. AO-109's beacon downlink is at 435.750 MHz and the transponder downlink is 435.760 MHz - 435.790 MHz. At this time, we have heard no verified reports of the beacon being active. The transponder does pass signals, but the downlink is weak. Our Engineering team has asked that it not be used while testing and evaluation is underway. 73, Paul, N8HM

Attempt to decode NO-84

Hi, I've received two burst during last pass of NO-84 over EU, signal quite good with a bit of qsb on 435.350MHz. I've recorded the audio and than processed with fldig using BPSK-31: phase scope looks good and what I've decoded is just: 252 00 23 804 242 +20 2n B 252 00 23 804 242 +20 gy that seems resonable data (beacon B, partial first packet) and is similar on what I've read here: dk3wn.info/files/psat_talk_dk3wn_Amsatuk_colloq_2015.pdf and here: http://www.urel.feec.vutbr.cz/esl/files/Projects/PSAT/P%20sat%20transponder… But how can I decode it? IC-705 for Satellites

I saw a PowerPoint presentation on this new Icom radio suggesting it could be used for satellite operation, but it's my understanding that it is not full duplex so how are they using it on satellites without experiencing great difficulty finding their own downlink? I also am not sure if SatPC32 is compatible with this radio. Does anyone have any experience using the 705 for satellite operation? 73 Rick, W2JAZ

I kept the two I used with AO-40. One unmodified converted 2401 to 123 MHz which easy to use with my old FT-847 which tuned 108-174 MHz for mode US Other was modified for 2401 to 435 MHz which was handy for operating mode LS where I uplinked using DEMI 144/1268 converter. I also kept my mku-? 2400-MHz preamp. Sold FT-847 in 2012. So someday maybe there will be another satellite that downlinks on 2401?? I'm not currently on the sats. ARISS is thegroup that puts together special amateur radio contacts between students aroundthe globe and crew members with ham radio licenses on the International Space Station (ISS). This will be a Multipoint Telebridge Contact via Amateur Radio between the ISS and students fromBishop Guertin High School. Students will take turnsasking their questions of ISS astronaut Shannon Walker, amateur radio call signKD5DXB, during the ARISS radio contact. The downlink frequency for this contact is 145.800 MHz. ARISS team member Fred Kemmerer, using his callsign AB1OC in New Hampshire, will serve as the relay amateur radio station.Each student asking a question on the ARISS radio will be conferenced in fromhome. English is the language expected to be used during the contact. TheARISS radio contact is scheduled for February 19, 2021 at 12:56 pm EST (Nashua,NH) (17:56 UTC, 11:56 am CST, 10:56 am MST, 9:56 am PST).
